Possibility to add subtitles to videos

It would be great to have possibility to add subtitles to videos. There should be possibility to define language of the subtitles, so user can choose which language they want to use. Also it would be great, if these could be also created automatically in addition to manual upload.

This is also an important accessibility feature.

Yes. We are current building possibility for

A) automatic subtitles for videos (using the same language as the video)

B) ability to add multiple subtitles with different languages - and of course then possibility to choose the subtitles on preferred language.

Great! When it should be ready ( estimated time..)?

It is done and ready, but not yet published. 

Automatic transcriptions and subtitles for videos will be published soon. Transcripts will be auto-translatable too, but not yet subtitles.

For the custom subtitles (uploaded) we decided to postpone the development until we get the new UI ready. This is because it requires quite a lot of UI development.

Also there is a need to support automatic translations for autogenerated subtitles - let's figure out how to do that.

Do you know is this automatic translations for subtitles coming anytime soon? We would desperately need this right now....

I hope during this year, but still quite a bit work we are focusing currently. I will check about this.

Just to be sure, you are talking the situation where participant is using translator and would then like to see the video subtitles in their chosen language?

Yes. Exactly like that :). We need that, because there are participants that dont know any english and transcription is difficult to follow.

It is currently under development. Still hopeful about February.

Quick update about this one:

• Very soon we launch the ability to add custom subtitles
• Add the same time one can disable auto-generated subtitles
• Auto-generated subtitles can be downloaded and then translated and uploaded back for different languages

Automatic translations for auto-generated subtitiles is coming later.
