Right now, you can filter users to be shown in the People widget if recommendations are not in use. The need here is to give users recommendations among a group of mentors in the given are of expertise. Ideally, it would be possible to divide mentors to userlists per topic, then select that userlist in the People widget on that topic's page, and recommend a match based on profile fields.
Thanks Atro, I guess this case is coming from Kasvu Open, right? So for example there could be mentors specialized in technology and then there will be a people widget where the tech experts are shown. That would probably require two filters: area of interest or skills (technology) and role: mentor.
Then to make sense of the matching, it would be not enough to have just the selection on high-level like technology. There should be plenty of questions under technology in order the matching to make sense. Options like: AI, Saas, Databases, Web, Gaming, UX, etc.
Am I on the right track?
Yup, that's where the idea came from. To add, I believe regular participants should answer these questions too so that they can be directed to the correct place. If you select these fields in the People widget now, it will show both participants and participant-mentors, but the need is to match regular participants with mentors. Adding the role as a separate filter doesn't work because in the end it lowers the match but still shows everyone.
So the idea is that you'd be able to select a pool of participants, e.g. some userlist, from which people are shown based on how well your interests match.
